Volunteers serve better when they know what's expected — and so does your pastoral team when issues arise. A signed code of conduct sets a culture of accountability from day one and gives you the framework to handle difficult situations with grace and consistency.

Only shared within the church with persons who have a legitimate need to know Examples of confidential information include: details shared in prayer, personal circumstances mentioned in pastoral settings, financial matters, disciplinary issues, and health information. **Breach of confidentiality is a serious matter and may result in removal from volunteer roles.** --- ## 5. Social Media Volunteers who identify themselves as serving at [CHURCH_NAME] on social media must adhere to the church's Social Media Policy. Key points: 1. Do not post confidential information about congregants or internal church matters 2. Do not make public statements that contradict or undermine official church communications 3. Represent the church with grace and maturity in all online interactions 4. Do not film or photograph congregants without their consent, especially children --- ## 6. Substance Use - Volunteers must not serve while under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance - Any volunteer found to be impaired while serving will be asked to leave the ministry setting immediately - Concerns about a volunteer's substance use should be reported confidentially to [VOLUNTEER_COORDINATOR] --- ## 7. Conflicts of Interest Volunteers must disclose to [VOLUNTEER_COORDINATOR] any situation where a personal, financial, or relational interest may conflict with their service responsibilities. Disqualifying Offences The following may disqualify a person from volunteer service, particularly in roles involving children, finances, or pastoral care: - Any conviction for a sexual offence - Any conviction for abuse or exploitation of a child or vulnerable person - Any current or recent criminal conviction involving dishonesty, fraud, or theft - Providing false information during the volunteer application process Prior convictions do not automatically disqualify a person from all volunteer roles. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis with care and pastoral sensitivity by [POLICY_OWNER]. --- ## 9.
